Conservative talking head Ann Coulter
wants an “all gay division” of the military.
Coulter protested repeal of the law
that bans gay and bisexual troops from serving openly – known as
“Don't Ask, Don't Tell” – by ironically asking during an
appearance on Fox News' Red Eye, “Why can't we have
diversity?”
“The combat units, the Marines and
the Army, don't want gays in the military. Why can't they have it
that way and we can have an all gay division. And with the ice
sculptures, and the Liza Minnelli, and the special uniforms and the
cravats.”
The 49-year-old Coulter insisted open
gay service will weaken the military.
“Why not make them fight – this is
like, you know, an Orwell book – why not make them fight with a
chainsaw attached to their left leg.”
“Just hope the Germans don't
reconstitute an army when we're putting girls and gays in military.
We are not taking the military seriously,” she added. (The video

Coulter created a swirl of controversy
when she accepted an invitation to speak at Homocon 2010, the
first annual convention of gay conservatives sponsored by gay GOP
group GOProud. She was called a “traitor” by conservatives, but
at the event she told gay Republicans that marriage “is not a civil
right – you're not black.”
