Darren Criss, who plays Blaine, an
out-and-proud Dalton Academy student on the Fox musical-comedy Glee,
sings the same tune about possible romance between his character and
gay student Kurt Hummel, played by Chris Colfer.
In an interview with Rolling Stone,
Criss
shows off his musical chops by musically answering questions as he
strums his guitar.
Criss sings that he thinks playing
Blaine is “the coolest thing I could be doing as an actor.”
But when it comes to singing about
possible romance between the choir boys, Criss repeats the same old
song and dance.
“Well, I think a lot of people want
to see Kurt with someone – and I do, too – but I think the most
important thing about that is to introduce a support system. 'Cause
up until this point, Kurt hasn’t really had another gay teen male
to relate to. And I think if we're going to approach a really big
subject like gay teen youth, you got to take it in little steps.”
“So, if they're gonna have a romantic
relationship, I hope it's earned, I hope it's sincere, I hope that we
can make it right for the story and not really be a cheap thrill for
people who want to see that stuff,” he adds.
