Actress Jane Lynch has recorded a video
for a fundraising campaign supporting services for homeless gay teens
in Los Angeles.
Lynch, who plays sharp-tongued coach Sue
Sylvester on the Fox musical-comedy hit Glee, is a board
member of the Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center.
In her PSA, the 50-year-old openly gay,
recently
married actress says the center is a place where homeless gay
teens “are accepted for who they are.”
“Everyone needs a home for the
holidays. But for many LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender)
youth abandoned by their parents, the center is their home,” she
says.
“Thousands depend on the center for
food, a warm bed, medical care and counseling – a welcoming home
where they are accepted for who they are. Now this holiday season
more people than ever are counting on the center.” (The video is
embedded in the right panel of this page.)
The
Los Angeles Gay & Lesbian Center's 2010 Holiday Campaign hopes to
raise $75,000 to support services for homeless gay youth.
