An actress playing a lesbian is
expected to win this year's Best Actress Oscar Award, an insider is
predicting.
Three women who play lesbian roles top
Dave Karger's “Best Bets” list for the Oscar's Best Actress
award.
Portman's portrayal of a lesbian
ballerina in Director Darren Aronofsky's much heralded thriller Black
Swan “will certainly earn her a Best Actress nomination,”
Karger
wrote at Entertainment
Weekly. The film opened
this year's Venice Film Festival. “The other front-runner
in the race this year is obviously Annette Bening for her fierce turn
as a red wine-loving mom in The Kids Are All Right.”
The third and final actress on the
“Best Bets” short list is Julianne Moore, who plays opposite
Bening in The Kids Are All Right.
In the film – available now on DVD –
the couple's bond is tested when their children seek out their
biological father, whose anonymously donated sperm impregnated the
women.
The Kids Are All Right is also
on Karger's “Best Bets” list for Best Picture.
