A special NOH8 Campaign photo shoot
raised $10,000 for AIDS Walk Los Angeles, the West Hollywood Patch
reported.
The campaign, helmed by
photographer-activist Adam Bouska and partner Jeff Parshley, raises
awareness and funds to repeal Proposition 8, California's gay
marriage ban.
Subjects are photographed with their
mouths duct taped and “NOH8” written on one cheek.
At the October 17 event, about 300
people lined up to pose for the campaign.
“We are incredibly proud of our
supporters for helping us raise an amazing amount of money for AIDS
Project Los Angeles,” the groups said in its newsletter released
Thursday. “We couldn't have done it without each and every one of
your contributions!”
“We were especially grateful for
everyone who braved the rain with us; you made it an experience to
remember.”
The campaign has attracted high-profile
celebrities, including Isiah
Thomas, men's basketball coach of the Florida International
University Golden Panthers, and his son, Joshua Zeke Thomas,
actress Tori
Spelling and Cindy
McCain, wife of Arizona Senator John McCain, and their daughter
Meghan, a pro-gay Republican. Houston
Dynamo Mike Chabala was photographed in Houston.
An estimated 30,000 people participated
in the 26th iteration of AIDS Walk Los Angeles.
