Iowa Congressman Steve King, FRC Action
President Tony Perkins and presidential hopeful Rick Santorum will
board the National Organization for Marriage's (NOM) tour bus against
3 Iowa Supreme Court judges who ruled in favor of gay marriage.
The New Jersey-based NOM, the
Washington-based Family Research Council (FRC) and the Iowa Family
Policy Center (IFPC) will hit the road starting Monday, October 25.
The bus is expected to make 20 stops in 4 days in a campaign to oust
three of the seven justices who unanimously legalized gay marriage in
Iowa.
Chief Justice Marsha Ternus and
Justices David Baker and Michael Streit have been marked for ouster
by opponents of the institution. The other four judges are not on
the ballot this year.
“If the Iowa Supreme Court will do
this to marriage, every one of our freedoms, including gun rights and
private property, is in danger of being usurped by activist judges
who are unelected officials. Most Americans believe that government
is out of control. Now is the time to take a stand against the
radical judicial activism of the Iowa Supreme Court,” Perkins said
in a statement.
The
campaign, titled Judge
Bus Tour, will end on Thursday with a rally at the Iowa
Supreme Court.
