Advocate, comedian and chat show host Ellen DeGeneres is the most
popular openly gay celebrity on Twitter. The former American Idol
judge has attracted more than 5 million followers on the micro
blogging platform.
With more than 2 million followers,
Perez Hilton comes in second. Hilton blogs about celebrities at
PerezHilton.com.
British actor-writer Stephen Fry has
1.7 million followers, putting him in the third spot. Rachel Maddow,
host of MSNBC's daily political program The Rachel Maddow Show,
has 1.6 million followers and DJ-musician and former Lindsay Lohan
girlfriend Samantha Ronson has 1.5, putting the women in fourth and
fifth, respectively.
Also popular are rockers Ricky Martin
(6th), Entertainment Weekly writer Michael Ausiello
(7th), actress Lindsay Lohan (8th), money guru
Suze Orman (9th), How I Met Your Mother star and
recent Emmy winner Neil Patrick Harris (10th) and singer
