Openly gay actor Jesse Tyler Ferguson
wants to marry Alec Baldwin in New York, but can't because gay
marriage is illegal in the state.
That's the premise of Ferguson's new
video for Fight
Back NY.
The political action committee is
working to oust New York senators who voted against a gay marriage
bill last year.
“I have a crush on someone,”
Ferguson, who stars as a gay dad in ABC's Sunday night comedy Modern
Family, confesses in the video. “He doesn't know it yet, but
we are going to get married.”
That someone is 30 Rock star
Alec Baldwin, who happens to be on the market after his 2002 divorce
from actress Kim Basinger.
“With your support of Fight Back New
York, he and I can be married here in New York by this time next
year,” Ferguson says.
“Um, Jesse,” an off-camera voice
interrupts, “Alec is not gay.”
“Yes, he is,” Ferguson replies.
“Yeah, he's straight.”
“Why would you spring this on me
here?” Ferguson rhetorically asks.
Sex
in the City 2 star Cynthia Nixon, who campaigned heavily
for passage of the law last year and is openly lesbian, was
featured in a video for the group in March.
