The War Room with Quinn & Rose
host Jim Quinn insists gay men are more likely than straight men to
be pedophiles.
Quinn opined on the matter during a
Wednesday discussion on a federal ruling that blocked the City of
Philadelphia from evicting a local Boy Scouts chapter from a
city-owned building for refusing to admit gay members. The city
decided to terminate the group's nearly-free lease in 2007, insisting
that nonprofits must abide by local anti-discrimination laws,
including an ordinance that protects based on sexual orientation.
“You don't send gay men and young
boys out together, okay?” Quinn told his radio audience.
“Most gay men have nothing to do with
the young boys,” co-host Rose Tennent responded. “Make sure you
understand that.”
Quinn went on to insist: “But I would
give you that pedophilia is far more rampant among the gay community
than it is among the straight community.”
The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against
Defamation (GLAAD) urged Clear Channel Communications executives to
demand Quinn issue an on-air apology.
“Differing views were presented in
the broadcast itself,” executives responded, “and no apology for
this discussion is warranted.”
“Clear Channel's response sends a
message that it is comfortable providing a platform for Quinn's
misinformation and benefiting financially from it,” GLAAD said in a
call to action.
Quinn has a long record of attacking
the gay community.
In 2008, he said he objected to gay
marriage because gay sex “produces AIDS.”
