Budget hotel chain Red Roof Inn is
offering a gay discount.
On Monday, the hotel chain announced it
is partnering with the International
Gay & Lesbian Travel Association (IGLTA). Members can
receive a 15% discount by booking on Red
Roof's website or through its toll-free number (800-733-7663)
when mentioning VP+code #600446.
“With this partnership we hope LGBT
travelers will take advantage of this opportunity to stay at Red Roof
for all their vacation and business travel needs,” Jeff Maurer,
national account executive for Red Roof, said in a statement.
Maurer called the new partnership a
“win-win for everyone.”
The move comes as the chain begins a
roll out of its newly redesigned properties aimed at the higher-end
traveler. Upgrades include plush bedding, flat-screen televisions,
and bathrooms that feature granite countertops, vessel sinks and
walk-in showers. Two such properties have already opened in
Beaumont, Texas and Locus Grove, Georgia.
“This is an exciting opportunity for
IGLTA as we expand our outreach to LGBT travelers globally,” John
Tanzella, president and CEO of IGLTA, said.
IGLTA has also partnered with Hilton,
Hyatt and Accor, among others. Accor manages more than 4,000 hotels,
including Motel 6, All Seasons and Sofitel.
