Gay porn glossy Unzipped has
folded, gay
blog Queerty reported.
According to the website, staffers were
made aware of the closure on Friday, March 12.
Here Media picked up Unzipped and
two other stroke magazines, Men and Freshmen, when it
acquired LPI Media. Men and Freshmen have already
been knocked back from monthlies to quarterlies.
The Paul Colichman-led company also
controls the iconic The Advocate and Out magazines.
When the The Los Angeles Advocate
first appeared as a newsletter in 1967, it was the nation's only
publication devoted to gay news and politics. Evolving into The
Advocate in the mid-70s, it remained the only gay news glossy
available on newsstands nationwide.
But the gay media leader will now be
trimmed down from a standalone magazine to a 32-page insert bundled
inside its gay culture focused counterpart Out.
Queerty has also reported that
freelance
writers and photographers working for The
Advocate
have gone months without getting paid.
Here Media also owns leading LGBT
websites Gay.com and PlanetOut.com, gay-friendly movie studio Regent
