The Washington D.C. headquarters of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) was vandalized on Sunday.

The building at 1640 Rhode Island Avenue, also known as Equality Center, was tagged with “Quit Leaving Queers Out” in pink paint, according to blogger Leslie Ewing.

Ewing said she noticed the vandalism at 6:45AM on Sunday, “sans caffeine” she added.

“I only had my phone with me but I did take the shot,” Ewing said on her blog, lgbtequalitymarch.blogspot.com. “It says 'Quit Leaving Queers Out'.”

The group Queers Against Assimilation has claimed credit for the attack, according to a post at the lesbian blog LezGetReal.com.

“HRC headquarters was rocked by an act of glamdalism last night by a crew of radical queer and allied folks armed with pink and black paint and glitter grenades.”

The group says HRC has left behind non-affluent gay men and lesbians. HRC is in the pocket of Democrats and large corporations, the group said. They objected to Obama's Saturday appearance before the group.

“The gourmet affair was sponsored by 48 corporations including giants Lockheed Martin, Microsoft and Wachovia Bank. At $250 a plate the HRC served our movement a rich, white, heteronormative atmosphere that purposefully excludes working class queer folks.”

“The vast amount of organizing resources the HRC wastes on their false alliance with the Democratic Party leaves radical queers on the margins to fend for themselves.”

“We need to escalate our struggle, or it will collapse,” the group added.
