The Ellen Show creator Carol
Leifer is returning to CBS with a new gay comedy, The Hollywood
Reporter reported.
CBS has picked up Leifer's latest
comedy inspired in part by her own real-life.
The tentatively titled You and Me
and He centers on a woman who enters a lesbian relationship after
divorcing her husband and soon discovers that she's pregnant with her
ex-husband's baby.
Leifer and her partner, Lori Wolf, are
busy raising 2-year-old Bruno Leifer-Wolf in California.
The 53-year-old comedienne was
discovered by David Letterman in the 80s. Since then she has written
for The Larry Sanders Show, Saturday Night Live and
Seinfeld.
In her 2009 book When You Lie About
Your Age, The Terrorists Win, Leifer discusses her coming out
process.
The short-lived The Ellen Show
starred openly lesbian Ellen DeGeneres and aired on CBS in 2001.
DeGeneres went on to host her own daytime talk show, Ellen.
Leifer is also behind Mouthpiece,
a Showtime comedy starring Marlee Matlin and actor-comedian Mario
Cantone.
