Actor David Hyde Pierce has revealed he
is among the 18,000 couples whose gay and lesbian nuptials were
upheld by the California Supreme Court Tuesday.
Pierce, best know for playing Frasier
Crane's fussy brother Niles Crane on the NBC comedy hit Frasier,
told the ladies of The View that he and TV producer Brian
Hargrove married “very quietly last October 24.”
Voters in California ended the
thousands of gay marriages taking place in the state on November 4
when they narrowly approved Proposition 8. The state Supreme Court
upheld the constitutionality of the gay marriage ban Tuesday, but
refused to dissolve any legal gay marriages.
Pierce joins several high-profile
celebrities that tied the knot in California last year including
comedienne Ellen DeGeneres who wed long-time girlfriend Portia de
Rossi and Star Trek star George Takei who married his partner
Brad Altman.
Pierce and Hargrove have been together
for 25 years.
