Days after losing the Miss USA crown,
Miss California continues to defend her anti-gay marriage stance.
During Sunday's competition, Miss
California Carrie Prejean, who finished second, was asked by openly
gay celebrity blogger Perez Hilton if she believes gay marriage
should be adopted by all fifty states.
Prejean answered: “Well, I think it's
great that Americans can choose one or the other. We live in a land
that you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And, you
know what, in my country and in my family, I think that I believe
that a marriage should be between a man and a woman.”
Hilton hit back with a nasty video rant
posted on his website PerezHilton.com where he says, “She gave the
worst answer in pageant history. She lost because she's a dumb
bitch, okay?” And added that he would have snatched the pageant
crown from her head if she would have won. He later apologized, “We
were/are sooo angry, hurt, frustrated by her answer. Perez would
love to take Miss California out for coffee and talk.”
Prejean has conceded that her answer
might have cost her the competition but said she was being true to
her faith.
“I was ready for my question, and
when I heard it from [Hilton], I knew at that moment after I'd
answered the question, I knew that I was not going to win because of
my answer,” she said Tuesday on NBC's Today Show. “Because
I had spoken from my heart, for my beliefs and for my God. ... It's
not about being politically correct, for me, it's about being
biblically correct.”
During an appearance on Your World
Cavuto on Fox News, Prejean said she feels sorry for Hilton and
would pray for him.
