Hunky Cheyenne Jackson is set to appear
in an upcoming episode of ABC's Ugly Betty where he will play
a gay dad, reports Variety.
Jackson is the openly gay actor/singer
last seen on Broadway playing the lead role of Sonny in the
Tony-nominated musical Xanadu.
The guest spot marks the singing
actor's third appearance in prime time. He recently appeared in
NBC's Lipstick Jungle (Chapter Fifteen: The Sisterhood Of
The Traveling Prada), which was followed by a yet to be broadcast
episode of ABC's Life On Mars (Let All The Children
Boogie). Jackson also can be seen in United 93, the
feature film that details the involvement of United flight 93 in the
9/11 terrorist plot. He plays Mark Bingham, the gay man who is
believed to have been among the passengers that stormed the cockpit
of the plane.
Jackson is an ardent gay rights
supporter. He advocates on behalf of the AIDS charities AMFAR and
Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
Gay monthly Out named Jackson
2008 Entertainer of the Year.
ABC has yet to announce the broadcast
date of the Ugly Betty episode that guest stars Jackson.
