Magic Johnson, said in a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey that her
son EJ's coming out was “very hard” for her.

series EJNYC, came out in 2013.
Cookie Johnson is on a book tour to
promote her memoir Believing in Magic: My Story of Love,
Overcoming Adversity, and Keeping the Faith.
She told Winfrey how she reconciled her
faith with her son's coming out.
“That was a very hard thing for me,”
she said during an appearance OWN's Super Soul Sunday. “So,
I had to pray about it.”
“This was one of those moments where
I had to go directly to God. And I prayed. The answer I got back
was love,” she
added. “That's when I knew I could love my son and support him
on who he was. And I was okay with it because I made peace with God
with it. So, I'm good.”
