CW Seed announced plans on Thursday for
an animated series that includes the first gay superhero to lead a
television show.
Freedom Fighters: The Ray will
premiere next year on the digital platform.
According
to Deadline
Hollywood, the character will eventually cross over in a
live-action form to the CW's Flash-Arrow universe.
“The plan is to have the actor who
voices the lead play the character on the CW series,” Deadline
reported, quoting remarks by CW President Mark Pedowitz at TCA.
The Ray is reporter Raymond “Ray”
Terrill, who received light-based powers while working on a story
about a secret weapon of mass destruction being developed by
government scientists. He fights injustice wherever it exists as a
member of the Freedom Fighters.
