Vice President Joe Biden has reportedly
officiated over the wedding of a gay couple.
It was also Biden's first wedding ever.
According to ABC News, Biden on Monday
officiated over the wedding of Brian Mosteller and Joe Mahshie, two
White House staffers. The wedding ceremony took place at the Naval
Observatory, Biden's office said.
“Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my
house. Couldn't be happier, two longtime White House staffers, two
great guys,” Biden said in a tweet on Monday.
“Love is love!” Biden's wife, Jill
messaged.
Biden received a temporary
certification to marry the couple, his office said.
In 2012, Biden announced his support
for marriage equality, a move that is widely believed to have nudged
President Barack Obama to make a similar endorsement just days later.
