Out Apple CEO Tim Cook will host a
fundraiser for Hillary Clinton, the Democratic nominee for president.
According to BuzzFeed
News, the lowest-priced ticket to the event is $2,700. Ten and
fifty thousand dollar contribution levels are also listed on the
invitation.
While the invitation does not disclose
the address of the event, it is expected to take place on August 24.
In addition to Cook, Lisa Jackson, vice
president of environment, policy and social initiatives at Apple,
will help raise money for the Hillary Victory Fund, which contributes
to the Clinton campaign, the Democratic National Committee and dozens
of state parties.
Cook, who is raising money for
political candidates as a private citizen, last month was criticized
for hosting a fundraiser for House Speaker Paul Ryan. Critics called
Cook a hypocrite for supporting a candidate who is opposed to LGBT
rights and greater gun control measures, issues Cook has endorsed.
“Tim Cook is hosting a fundraiser for
Paul Ryan, and I'm pretty sure it's not because of his position on
gay rights,” wrote Adam Smith (@asmith83) on Twitter.
Despite a history of supporting
presidential conventions, Apple this year refused to provide
resources to the Republican National Convention (RNC), which wrapped
up earlier this month in Cleveland.
