Darren Criss and Chita Rivera were
among the Broadway stars who took part in Monday's From Broadway
with Love: A Benefit Concert in Orlando.
Proceeds from the two-and-a-half-hour
show will benefit the GLBT Community Center of Central Florida, Hope
and Help Center, an AIDS non-profit, and Zebra Coalition, which
supports LGBT youth.
The show comes roughly a month after a
mass shooting in a gay nightclub in Orlando that left 49 people dead
and wounded dozens.
Broadway stars who took part in the
benefit included Chita Rivera, Norbert Leo Butz, Kelli O'Hara, Jessie
Mueller, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Andrea McArdle and Darren Criss.
Local performer included members of the Orlando Gay Chorus and
VarieTease, a dance troupe.
Criss, who last year played transgender
rock star Hedwig, performed “Sugar Daddy” from Hedwig and the
Angry Inch toward the person who payed $760 in an online auction
to be on stage during the number.
