Planting Peace has erected a billboard
in Cleveland that shows Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican
nominee for president, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz about to lock lips.
Trump and Cruz nestle, their lips about
to touch, under the headline “Love trumps hate. End homophobia.”
Cleveland is playing host to the
Republican National Convention, which opens Monday.
“What Donald, Ted and the Republican
platform either fail to realize, or realize and just don't seem to
care about, is that their words and actions toward our LGBT family –
especially LGBT children – have meaning and impact,” Planting
Peace said in a press release. “LGBT children hear these messages
telling them they are nothing but second-class citizens and are left
feeling somewhat broken or 'less than.'”
The Republican Party's proposed
platform has moved further to the right on LGBT rights than its 2012
platform.

erecting a rainbow-colored house in Topeka, Kansas across the street
from the Westboro Baptist Church, which is best known for coining the
phrase “God hates fags.”
