Amid reports that the gunman who on
Sunday killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in Orlando used gay
hook-up apps, his ex-wife said Wednesday that she questioned his
sexuality.
Police shot and killed Omar Mateen, the
29-year-old who opened fire early Sunday morning in Pulse nightclub.
Sitora Yusufiy has previously accused
her ex-husband of beating her on a regular basis.
On Wednesday, she told CNN's Don Lemon
that she questioned Mateen's sexuality.
“To me personally, with everything
that I went through and everything that I saw and experienced daily,
it makes sense, because he did have a different side of him that he
could not open up to his father about,” Yusufiy
said.
“So, do you think that he had gay
tendencies?” Lemon asked.
“I am not going to lie. I definitely
questioned it in my own head when I was with him and wondered if he
is, 'cause he would do a lot of things … that would definitely make
any woman question if he was or not,” she added.
Those things, according to Yusufiy,
were Mateen's love for taking selfies and going to nightclubs.
