Laverne Cox and Nick Jonas were among the celebrities messaging
support for the victims of Sunday's attack on a gay nightclub in
Orlando.
Forty-nine people died and dozens were
injured when Omar Mateen, 29, opened fire in the Pulse nightclub.
“Shocked & heartbroken,”
Caitlyn Jenner tweeted. “Sending all my thoughts and prayers to my
brothers & sisters in Orlando. Be safe the rest of this weekend
friends.”
Laverne Cox, who appears on Netflix's
Orange is the New Black, messaged: “Deeply moved that in the
face of tragedy Orlando & Americans everywhere are coming
together to give blood, love & support. This is who we are.”
“I am gay and I am not afraid,”
singer Ricky Martin said. “Love conquers all.”
Actor Neil Patrick Harris, who is
raising two children with his husband, tweeted: “The tragedy in
Orlando is just beyond sad. My deepest regrets to all those
suffering. There are no words that suffice. I'm...stunned.”
“Sobbing,” Ellen DeGeneres added.
“My heart goes out to the victims and
their families,” out actress Ellen Page messaged her followers.
“Our community has suffered a tremendous loss. We must stand
together more than ever.”
Cher's message included crying
emoticons. “NO WORDS GOOD ENOGH11 WHEN UR HURT, WOUNDED, MURDERED
WE ALL CRY!! WE ALL MOURN!! WE R ALL LESS WITHOUT U MY EXTENDED
FAMILY!!,” she wrote.
Actor George Takei said that he was
“devastated.” “Whatever the madness behind this, let us all
come together first to support victims & their loved ones.”

those who lost their lives,” singer Adam Lambert tweeted.
Boy George said that he was
“heartbroken” and prayed “for this world to change!”
“I'm hurt. I'm angry,” out
comedian Wanda Sykes tweeted.
“Hate is a poison,” Aisha Tyler
wrote. “It destroys everything it touches & undermines our
most precious American value: freedom.”
Singer-actor Nick Jonas messaged: “My
heart is broken this morning. So much hate in this world. So many
beautiful innocent lives taken last night in Orlando.”
