Stars of the Netflix drama Orange is
the New Black helped Sao Paulo, Brazil celebrate LGBT Pride on
Saturday.
Samira Wiley, who plays Poussey
Washington on the show, and Uzo Aduba, who plays Suzanne “Crazy
Eyes” Warren, were spotted among the thousands who attended what is
believed to be the world's largest LGBT Pride parade.
When asked by a reporter among the
crowd whether she was enjoying the parade, Aduba said that she was
“loving it.”
“It's just an amazing city.
Everybody's so loving,” Aduba
said.
When asked how she felt about her
character being gay on the show, Washington answered that she felt
“proud” to represent the LGBT community.
“I feel proud to be able to represent
LGBT people on a network that is seen to people all across the
world,” Washington said.
“The energy from the people of Sao
Paulo is amazing. I went to New York Pride last year, this is so
much bigger,” she added.
Other Netflix stars were also in
attendance. The cast and crew of Sense8 were in the city to
film scenes from its upcoming second season.
