Singer-actor Nick Jonas covers the
June/July cover of gay glossy Out.
In his cover
story interview with Out,
Jonas discusses his burgeoning acting career, his upcoming solo
album, Last Year Was Complicated, and the accusations of gay
baiting.
Jonas said that Complicated was
inspired by his breakup with Miss USA Olivia Culp.
“With this one I made a real point to
tell stories as honestly as I could,” Jonas said. “It became
very clear what it was going to be about, after the breakup. I just
dove in headfirst and wrote about all of it. I think it was the most
meaningful relationship I've ever been in, and it was the longest.”
The 23-year-old Jonas played a closeted
frat boy on Fox's Scream Queens, plays a gay MMA fighter on
the DirecTV drama Kingdom and has made several appearances at
gay bars in New York City, which has led to accusations of gay
baiting.
“It's not the majority, but a large
handful have a negative opinion for whatever reason,” he said of
courting gay fans, “and I think it's really quite sad.”
