Arief Wismansyah, the mayor of
Tangerang, a city in the province of Banten, Indonesia, claimed this
week that feeding babies instant noodles and canned milk might make
them gay.
At a seminar on pregnancy, Wismansyah
lamented that young parents are so busy that they wind up feeding
their children formula and instant foods.
“So, it's no wonder that recently
there are more LGBT,” he is quoted as saying by Coconut
Jakarta.
The outlet noted that Wismansyah also
voiced his opposition to LGBT-based discrimination.
“Which is a nice thing to say,”
editors opined. “Because it would be really unfair to discriminate
against somebody just because their lazy parents turned them gay by
feeding them formula and instant noodles as a child.”
