Two Massachusetts students say their
marriage proposal at a Ted Cruz rally was a protest against the
Republican presidential candidate's opposition to marriage equality.
Arden Jurskis and Kenzy Peach,
sophomores at Emerson College, say they staged the marriage proposal.
The students are of the opposite sex,
but Peach told The
Boston Globe that “it's way more ethical to have two people
of the same gender get married than have two college sophomores tie
the knot.”
A photo of the students joyfully
embracing with Cruz in the background was widely shared on the
Internet.
Peach said that she told Jurskis to
propose as Cruz approached them during a rally Sunday in Des Moines.
“He gave us the biggest hug I think I
