Caitlyn Jenner's coming out and
President Barack Obama's gay marriage message were among the top
tweets of 2015.
According to data released Monday by
Twitter, Jenner's coming out tweet was the 10th most
retweeted tweet of the year (among verified accounts).
“I'm so happy after such a long
struggle to be living my true self. Welcome to the world Caitlyn.
Can't wait for you to get to know her/me,” Jenner messaged on June
1.
President Obama's tweet in support of
the Supreme Court's June 26 ruling that stuck down gay marriage bans
nationwide was ranked fourth on the list.
“Today is a big step in our march
toward equality,” Obama messaged. “Gay and lesbian couples now
have the right to marry, just like anyone else. #LoveWins.”
The hashtag he used (#LoveWins) was
also one of the top hashtags of the year.
