More than 11,000 Singaporeans have signed on to a petition calling on MediaCorp to remove out singer Adam Lambert from a New Year's Eve countdown show.

The show will take place at The Float at Marina Bay in Marina Bay, Singapore.

“Adam Lambert is hardly the kind of performer to send off our historic Jubilee Year or to usher in the New Year,” the iPetitions.com petition reads. “His track record displays a flagrant disregard for the sensitivities of his audience – including whether or not children are watching.”

The petition was created by a group of “concerned citizens, parents and individuals,” Yahoo! reported.

A 2009 American Music Awards (AMA) performance included Lambert kissing a male keyboardist and simulating oral sex. The controversy surrounding the performance fired up Lambert's burgeoning career.

Lambert faced similar criticism in 2013 when he performed at a church-owned venue in Singapore.

“Someone asked me in an interview, 'Are you promoting a certain lifestyle?'” Lambert told a Singaporean audience estimated at 4,500. “My answer was, 'The only lifestyle I am promoting is one of love and friendship, music, joy and fashion.' So whoever wants to be part of that lifestyle, yeah, we accept anybody.”
