In a new interview, out actor Chris
Colfer talks about his role in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
The 25-year-old Colfer is best known
for his portrayal of gay student Kurt Hummel on the Fox musical
comedy Glee.
Last week, producers of the movie
released a photo of Colfer flanked by the film's stars, Jennifer
Saunders and Joanna Lumley.
In the BBC sitcom, PR agent Edina
Monsoon (played by Saunders) and magazine editor Patsy Stone (Lumley)
desperately attempt to be hip by chasing bizarre fads. Edina's heavy
drinking is eclipsed by Patsy's self-destructive behavior.
“As of right now, I believe I'm
playing Jennifer Saunders' hairdresser/social media consultant,”
Colfer told Larry King Now host Larry King.
“And I'm very excited about that,
because Jennifer Saunders is one of my heroes. And I can't believe
she wrote the part for me,” he
said.
Elsewhere in the interview, Colfer said
that an openly gay president was a possibility.
