Actor Reid Ewing, who plays Dylan on
the ABC sitcom Modern Family, on Saturday confirmed that he's
gay.
The 27-year-old Ewing said on Twitter
that his sexual orientation has never been a secret.
“Did you also just out yourself?” a
follower (@MichaelJMapes) asked.
“I was never in,” Ewing responded.
Last week, Ewing detailed his struggles
with body dysmorphia in an essay published by the Huffington
Post.
He said that he turned to cosmetic
surgery to help ease his insecurity about his looks. But some of the
procedures were botched, which led to additional surgeries.
“None of the doctors suggested I
consult a psychologist for what was clearly a psychological issue
rather than a cosmetic one or warn me about the potential for
addiction,” Ewing wrote.
“I think people often choose cosmetic
surgery in order to be accepted, but it usually leaves them feeling
even more like an outsider,” he added.
