While out actor Daniel Franzese last
year blamed his gay Mean Girls character for “ruining his
life,” last week he said that he's ready to reprise the role.
In a recent interview with The
Advocate, Tina Fey, who wrote the screenplay, said that she
should have written a separate movie for Franzese's Damian.
“Damian, the gay character, was in
every draft,” Fey said. “Someone once asked me, 'How come
everyone's sort of paired off at the end but we don't see what
happens to Damian?' I said, 'Because it's a movie about girls.' We
should've made another movie about Damian.”
In a Facebook post, Franzese said that
he likes the idea.
“Tina Fey doesn't care if you don't
like her gay characters, she wants a sequel with only Damian. (I
like that idea too obvi lol),” he
wrote.
Last year, Franzese wrote a letter to
his character, saying that Damian had “ruined his life” and
claimed that the role had pigeonholed him, leaving him unable to
pursue “man's man” roles.
