Out actor Chris Colfer has joined the
cast of Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.
The 25-year-old Colfer is best known
for his portrayal of gay student Kurt Hummel on the Fox musical
comedy Glee.
“Look who's found himself in the
middle of an Ab Fab sandwich! We're feeling totally gleeful as we
welcome the wonderful Chris Colfer to the cast,” producers said
Friday in a Facebook
post that included a photo of Colfer flanked by the film's stars,
Jennifer Saunders and Joanna Lumley.
Next year's film will be a first for
the outrageous BBC sitcom that first premiered in 1992.
In the comedy, PR agent Edina Monsoon
(played by Saunders) and magazine editor Patsy Stone (Lumley)
desperately attempt to be hip by chasing bizarre fads. Edina's heavy
drinking is eclipsed by Patsy's self-destructive behavior.
Previous
announcements include the casting of British singer Emma Bunton,
actress-author Joan Collins and nearly 100 drag queens.
