Southern Decadence – the gay
Mardi Grass party – is back this year. The party had been on
ventilation support in a post-Katrina New Orleans, but this year
organizers say the event is in full swing.
The 37th annual Southern
Decadence party draws nearly 100,000 revelers to the French
Quarter over Labor Day weekend making it one of the city's largest
annual events.
Sunday's huge parade is the main
attraction of Decadence when grand marshals Paloma and Tittie
Toulouse lead a procession of floats and costumed merrymakers though
New Orleans' historic streets. The parade kicks off at 2PM at the
Golden Lantern.
Other events over the weekend include:
Friday, August 29th: Lady
Bunny gets outrageous in her hour-long stage performance at The
Bourbon Pub starting at 8PM.
Saturday, August 30th: The
largest dance event of Decadence is at The Bourbon Pub
starting at 10PM and lasting till Sunday at 10AM.
Sunday, August 31st: After
the parade enjoy Meltdown at the The Bourbon Pub, another outrageous
dance party featuring Chi Chi LaRue and her boys. Meltdown is an
official Black & Blue party and is presented by Bad Boy Club
Montreal.
Set in the epicenter of the French
Quarter, Southern Decadence offers an outrageous party in one
of America's most festive neighborhoods – decadence is sure to
follow.
