English singer-songwriter Boy George
allegedly joked last week that he once slept with Prince.
According to UK tabloid The
Sun, George made the outlandish statement during a recent
recording of The Voice UK.
George has joined Paloma Faith,
will.i.am and Ricky Wilson as a coach on the talent competition
television show.
“I have duetted with some of the
greatest soul singers in history including Luther Vandross and Smokey
Robinson,” George said during the producers' auditions.
“Well, okay, if we're throwing big
soul names out there I've performed with Prince,” Faith responded.
“Forget that, darling, I've slept
with Prince,” George said, according to a source who said that the
claim sent the audience “absolutely wild.”
After speaking with producers, George
told the live audience that he was just joking.
Season five of The Voice UK
debuts on BBC One in January.
