Laverne Cox will appear as Dr. Frank-N-Furter in Fox's upcoming remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Fox will premiere its reimagining of the cult classic next fall.

Tim Curry pioneered the role of Dr. Frank-N-Furter, a self-proclaimed “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania,” in the original Broadway production and the 1975 20th Century Fox movie.

Cox made history last year as the first transgender actor to receive an Emmy nomination for her portrayal of transgender inmate Sophia Burset on the Netflix comedy Orange is The New Black. Laverne Cox Presents: The T Word, a documentary on transgender youth Cox hosted and produced for MTV and Logo TV, won a Daytime Emmy Award.

Lou Adler, who produced the film version of The Rocky Horror Picture Show and its follow-up, Shock Treatment, and Broadway producer Gail Berman will serve as executive producers on the Fox version. Kenny Ortega (High School Musical, This Is It, Hocus Pocus) will serve as the film's director and choreographer.
