Tyler Glenn, the frontman for the
Utah-based rock band Neon Trees who came out gay last year, says
being out has positively affected his life.
“Yes. I am a happy and healthy
Mormon gay pop star,” Glenn tweeted last year. “I don't know
what it all means, but I'm ok with it.”
Speaking with Fox 13 Salt Lake City,
Glenn, who will headline Equality Utah's annual “Allies Dinner”
fundraiser, said that coming out has been a positive experience.
“Because I lived in fear so much.
Coming out has directly affected my career, my creativity, my
relationships with people that are in my life,” he
said. “It's only gotten stronger. I'm writing music that I
haven't been able to write before that I'm lit on fire about.”
“I realize, when you share your
experience and your truth, that is the work,” he added. “That's
what touches people and what I think promotes decent and positive
change.”
