Christian conservative Bryan Fischer
has criticized the nomination of Eric Fanning to be secretary of the
Army.
“The army of the United States has
become the army of Sodom and Gomorrah. May God help us,” he
tweeted on Friday along with a Washington Post story on
President Barack Obama's nomination of Fanning.
If approved by the Senate, Fanning, 47,
would become the first openly gay secretary of a military branch.

Fischer, a vocal opponent of LGBT
rights, is the host of Focal Point on American Family Radio.
In response to the Supreme Court's
ruling striking down state bans on gay marriage, Fischer told his
radio listeners that “June 26, 2015 is a date which will live in
infamy” because “on this day, the United States become Sodom and
Gomorrah.”
