The It Gets Better Project on Friday
announced that it had sold out of “Doritos Rainbows,” cool
ranch-flavored corn chips inspired by the LGBT Pride flag.
“We've sold out of #Doritos Rainbows!
T/Y to all for your support. Stay tuned for updates,” tweeted the
organization, a non-profit that reaches out to troubled LGBT teens.
The announcement came only a day after
Texas-based Frito-Lay, a division of PepsiCo, revealed that it was
partnering with the It Gets Better Project.
The limited-edition chips were only
available through a special website, which raised $100,000 for the It
Gets Better Project.
“Doritos Rainbows chips are a
first-of-its-kind product supporting the LGBT community,” said Ram
Krishnan, Frito-Lay's chief marketing officer. “Doritos the brand
has stood 'for the bold,' and we believe there is nothing bolder than
being yourself.”
Doritos is a corporate sponsor of
Sunday's Dallas Pride event, whose attendees will be the first to try
“Doritos Rainbows.”
