Televangelist Pat Robertson on
Wednesday claimed that being gay offers only unhappiness.
After airing a segment on one man's
“struggle with homosexuality,” which ended, supposedly, after he
joined a “support group for Christians caught in the gay and
lesbian lifestyle,” Robertson lamented that mental health
professionals no longer treat homosexuality as a disease.
“It used to be that psychologists
would tell people how to come out of this,” Robertson told his The
700 Club viewers. “”Now they tell them how to stay in it and
be happy.”
“Well, you'll never be happy unless
you're happy in Jesus,” he added.
Elsewhere on the program, Robertson
urged viewers to seek “freedom” from being gay.
“If you're into the homosexual
lifestyle and you want freedom, [then] somebody is here to love you,”
he
said in urging gay viewers to reach out to the Christian
Broadcasting Network (CBN).
