Christian conservative Mat Staver, head
of Liberty Counsel, said last week that he wants “sanctuary cities”
where gay marriage is not recognized.
Appearing on VCY America's Crosstalk
radio program, Staver called on governors and other elected officials
to “stand up and resist” the Supreme Court's recent ruling
striking down gay marriage bans in all 50 states.
He went on to call for the creation of
“sanctuary cities” free from marriage equality and abortion
rights.
“You know what, if some cities can
create sanctuary cities for illegal aliens, why can't a city or a
state create a sanctuary city or state to protect the pre-born?”
Staver
rhetorically asked.
“And to protect marriage,” VCY's
Jim Schneider added.
“... and to protect marriage,
absolutely,” Staver responded.
