Lady Gaga, Madonna and Neil Patrick Harris were among the celebrities cheering the Supreme Court's ruling striking down state bans on gay marriage.

“Finally And at Last!” Madonna tweeted. “The Revolution Of Love has Begun!”

Neil Patrick Harris, who is raising two children with husband David Burtka, thanked the high court, and in particular Justice Anthony Kennedy who wrote the majority decision.

“It's a new day,” he messaged. “Thank you Supreme Court. Thank you Justice Kennedy. Your opinion is profound, in more ways than you may know.”

Liza Minnelli expressed happiness in a written statement.

“I have always said that everyone has the right to love who they love and today, with the historic decision from the Supreme Court, I am so happy it is now the law of the land,” she said.
