Christian conservative James Dobson has warned that the “homosexual activist movement” is bent on “overturning laws prohibiting pedophilia.”

Dobson, the founder of Focus on the Family, which he led until 2003, is the host of Family Talk with Dr. James Dobson, which is broadcast on over 300 radio stations nationwide.

Last month, he predicted civil war if the Supreme Court strikes down state bans on gay marriage.

He went further in a column, warning of Christian persecution if the bans are overturned.

“Pastors may have to officiate at same-sex marriages, and they could be prohibited from preaching certain passages of Scripture,” Dobson wrote. “Those who refuse to comply will not only be threatened legally, but many will be protested and picketed by activists. Perhaps this is a worst-case scenario, but maybe not. Prison is also a possibility.”

“For more than 50 years, the homosexual activist movement has sought to implement a master plan that has had as its centerpiece the destruction or redesign of the family. Many of these objectives have largely been realized, including … muzzling of the clergy and Christian media, inclusion of gays and lesbians in all branches of the military, granting of special privileges and rights in the law, overturning laws prohibiting pedophilia, indoctrinating children and future generations through public education, and securing all the legal benefits of marriage for any two or more people who claim to have homosexual tendencies.”

While conservatives such as Dobson continue to argue that churches would be forced to marry gay couples if the Supreme Court struck down restrictive marriage bans, the reality is that the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution protects religious institutions.
