Talk show host Kelly Ripa will be
honored next month at the 26th Annual GLAAD Media Awards
in New York City.
Ripa will receive the group's
Excellence in Media Award, which is presented to “media
professionals who have made a significant difference in promoting
equality.”
CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will present
the award to Ripa, GLAAD announced on Monday.
“For over a decade, Kelly Ripa has
greeted millions of viewers with messages of acceptance and
inclusion,” GLAAD President & CEO Sarah Kate Ellis said in a
statement. “By sharing inclusive stories with her audience and
loudly voicing support for her LGBT friends and fans, Kelly is
helping to drive acceptance forward.”
GLAAD will also honor MSNBC anchor
Thomas Roberts at the May 9 event.
