Oprah Winfrey, Laverne Cox, Sam Smith and Ellen DeGeneres are among the celebrities applauding Bruce Jenner's courage to speak out about his gender struggle.

In an interview with ABC News' Diane Sawyer, Jenner said that he identifies as female.

“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner said.

“#BruceJenner we learn from you to be courageous, funny and to be our authentic self,” tennis legend Billie Jean King tweeted. “With love and Go For It!”

Oprah Winfrey applauded a quote from Jenner: “'All of us deserve the right to be loved for who we are' Bravo #BruceJenner.”

“I pray this Sawyer/Jenner interview will be met with compassion,” Lady Gaga added. “This is an important world issue.”

Rosie O'Donnell said: “bruce jenner – just beautiful in every way – thank u for ur courage #inspiring.”

Ellen DeGeneres called Jenner a “beautiful, brave human being.”

“Sending lots of love and support to #BruceJenner and their family tonight,” actress Laverne Cox (Orange is the New Black) messaged. “It is always brave to stand in one's truth. Congrats darling.”

Singer Sam Smith called Jenner “courageous” and “brave”: “So inspiring and so powerful. Shame on anyone who dare judge x.”
