Singer-actor Nick Jonas says more
straight artists should speak out in favor of gay marriage.
In promoting the single Jealous from
his self-titled solo album, Jonas made several appearances at gay
clubs in New York. He also plays Nate Kulina, a gay Mixed Martial
Arts (MMA) fighter, on DirecTV's Kingdom.
In an interview with French gay glossy
Tetu, Jonas, 22, discusses his role as an LGBT ally.
“Everyone should have the right to
love and marry whomever he wants,” Jonas said, according to a
translation by Attitude.co.uk.
“And the more there are straight artists who defend those ideas,
the more they will be admitted.”
Last year, Jonas told gay glossy The
Advocate that he's comfortable courting gay fans.
“I don't know why more heterosexual
male artists don't embrace their gay fan base, because it's so
important. At least, I feel like it's such an important part of my
fan base, so I wanted to make an effort and it was incredible to be
around my gay fans and celebrate,” he said.
