Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins has predicted that a Supreme Court ruling striking down state bans on gay marriage will trigger a Christian uprising.

The nation's highest court will hear oral arguments in a case challenging marriage bans in Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee on April 28, with a ruling expected in June.

When a caller to his Washington Watch radio program claimed that President Barack Obama was trained by his father to “hate Christians,” Perkins responded that he couldn't say for sure whether the president is “a follower of Allah” but knows that he is “deferential toward Islam and has been hostile to orthodox Christianity.”

“I think, John, your point about Christians rising up, I think we are getting close to that in this country as we see increasingly this growing hostility at the hands of our own government toward Christianity and I think especially if the court imposes upon the nation a redefinition of marriage,” Perkins said. “I don't think the nation is going to accept it. I absolutely don't. And the conflict that is going to come as a result of it.”

Elsewhere on the program, Perkins said that his group would be leading “twenty-one days of prayer and fasting for out nation” leading up to opening arguments in the marriage case before the Supreme Court.
