Univision has fired Rodner Figueroa for
comparing First Lady Michelle Obama to the cast of The Planet of
the Apes.
On El Gordon Y La Flaca,
Figueroa, also the host of Sal Y Pimienta, said that Obama
looks like a cast member of The Planet of the Apes, according
to People
En Espanol.
The comment came during a segment on
makeup transformations.
Figueroa apologized Thursday in an open
letter to the First Lady, saying that the comment was about the
makeup artist's transformation to look like the First Lady.
He added that he was not a racist and
that he was proud to be the first openly gay Hispanic TV host.
But Figueroa also blamed the First Lady
for his dismissal: “I was verbally notified that a complaint from
your office led to my dismissal.”
