Ben Carson's remarks that being gay is a choice became a recurring joke on Saturday Night Live's Weekend Update.

Carson, a possible GOP presidential candidate, said during an interview last week that being gay is “absolutely” a choice because prison can make people gay: “[A] lot of people go into prison straight and when they come out they're gay.”

The skit comedy show's news segment mocked Carson's remarks.

“Potential presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson, a neurosurgeon, said this week that homosexuality is a choice because many people go to prison straight and when they come out they're gay,” Michael Che said. “Kind of like how in that last sentence Dr. Carson went in as a neurosurgeon and came out as a complete idiot.”

“Dr. Ben Carson, a candidate for president, said that homosexuality is a choice. Unfortunately for him, so are elections,” Che said elsewhere.

Co-host Colin Jost also piled in: “Carson made the comments to himself over and over again in a men's locker room.”

“This just in,” Jost added. “Dr. Ben Carson is no longer a candidate for president.”
